CULTURE
Culture has always been at home in Baden. In Baden's visitors books you can find famous composers like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven, who composed important works of music history inspired by the wonderful atmosphere of the Biedermeier town. Waltz King Johann Strauss regularly gave concerts in Baden's spa park for the town's music lovers.

Also, numerous well-known poets, such as Grillparzer, Raimund Nestroy or Schnitzler, visited the imperial city. Villas, palaces, ritzy town houses and squares bear the signature of the great architects of the Biedermeier, Historicism and Jugendstil periods, such as Carl von Moreau, Josef Kornhäusel and Otto Wagner.
In Baden, culture is in season year round till this day: whether it the summer spa concerts in spa park, the Operetta Festival in the summer arena, the winter season of the Baden's municipal theatre, alternative art and youth culture in the "Theater am Steg", or show events at the Congress Casino Baden - there is always something happening here.
Baden's museums and collections let you follow the traces of the imperial court. The gallery in Beethoven House, the Menotti gallery and others are dedicated to modern visual arts. In the historical Franzensbad, the "Arnulf Rainer" museum is currently being built as an international centre for modern art.
Baden's range of cultural events is broad, modern, conscious of tradition and at times even elitist - a tolerant coexistence that is pleasantly stimulating.
